For Women’s History Month Wendy Ebo Jones, President of Ida Bell Publishing, will again bring a fascinating story of a historic woman, this time — Augusta Savage (1892-1962). Savage was a sculptor, an activist, a luminary of the Harlem Renaissance, and the first gallery owner to exhibit and sell works by African American artists. Her best-known work was the sculpture, Lift Every Voice and Sing, created for the 1939 World’s Fair.
